I want to know is there a tutorial for spinning cube ( .... when you create a rubic cube (or any other cube) is there any way to animate it so that she can rotate.....just like spinning globe...)???

ccbarr wrote a tutorial that is in Gimp Talk for a spinning striped pole. Unfortunately Gimp Talk is not accessible.

That tutorial could be utilized but instead of mapping to a cylinder, it could be mapped to the box in Filters > Map > Map Object. It involves the use of GAP.

I have a printed copy of the tutorial and will see how it works with mapping the box. If it works well, I will attempt to write the tutorial using a box. Keep in mind that my tutorial will not be anywhere near the quality of a ccbarr tutorial.

Yes, as I said in my initial post, Gimp Talk is not accessible.

I was hoping that they could get it fixed and at some future date that link would work.

This didn't work out well. I think map object did not like having 6 color layers. I'll try it again with fewer fill layers. I deleted 10 all purple layers to cut down on the size. Interesting though. Back to the drawing board.

Gmic has a sequence option -- sequence/3d object -- which can do a spinning cube. Uses only 1 image though.

Is there a reason why you don't have it? It is very useful.

Nixnine, that works ever so much better than what I'm trying to do. The Map Object filter just chews up my attempts and takes over two hours to do it.
