Hello everyone,

I really enjoy dinking around in gimp. I'm 62, unintentionally retired, chillin' in Dallas, TX in this 104 degree weather. I have lots of time to try all the tutorials and scripts found here and there are a ton of them. Thanks to all the contributors. Fencepost stands out for some reason, but there are many others just as good if not better.

I uploaded a few of my latest efforts, just goofing around with some of the stuff I got from this site, but I have a lot to learn yet.

Keep 'em comin'

Thanks, everyone. I'm definitely a dragon lover and I love your dragon sig Nixnine. The pool balls were a PS tutorial that showd all the steps and I just dinked around with Light and shadow and about a million layers to capture the same effect. the water thingy was from a Youtube tut done by xgeous. If anybody is interested, here 'tis.

I have to say that's very high praise coming from you. I've seen a lot of your work and mine looks like a 1st grader's attemp in comparison. Glad to hear from you and thanks. I've been on here all day today!

Thanks for the kind words Draconian but the reality is that most of the members here are much better at manipulating GIMP that I am. The nice thing about the GIMP community is that even though we all have our strengths and weaknesses (and sometimes disagreements), we can come together to work toward the common goal of promoting/supporting GIMP and other related FOSS. You clearly have a knack for GIMP and you're a welcome addition to the community.

I noticed that as well and went back to :colpick find the exact color of the text (I picked the middle area if that makes sense). then did another Color to Alpha. that did it

it may be related to how thick the font face is........

in my experiment I picked the color that was the middle tone...about here:

try to zoom in on your image to find that 'sweet spot'......I know it's tricky because I had to try a few times
