Nope - i tried 8bf's and it calls Photo -Shop ... :rofl
Probably because it's the only program that runs 8bf's.
Still though with it running Deep Paint and XnView, that's enough for me!

Great work Rob!

I got Filter Forge to open with it, and it copies the layer or image but it doesn't open the temp file.

Rod

Glad you modified it to call Deep Paint.

As you figured out the Photoshop filters need a "host" application (which is what PSPI is trying to be).

With the last version posted you should be able to leave Deep Paint in Program Files as the command string is quoted to allow spaces.

Thanks for all your help. With your testing I'm ok to post it up at the registry.

Thanks Rod. I removed the earlier versions and replaced them with a link to the latest.

Hey Rob; remembered that you were going to release this to the Registry. Just curious as to when. I definitely am greatful for it. Still wish GIMP itself would work with PS filters, but they never will; treated PSPI like a red-headed stepchild and finally put it into a coma with 2.6.11. lol

:)

They (GIMP) choked the life right out of it (PSPI).

Tested in 2.7.1 both Deep Paint, and XnView python scripts work fine.

I tried to get Deep Paint, but they want everything but your first born to download it.

I need to modify a copy of the script to launch Pixelitor! It has a couple of nice built-in filters.

I made a copy of the XnView script and created a Pixelitor script. When I launch it, it creates the visible layer and opens Pixelitor, but Pixelitor says the temp file doesn't exist. I'm still trying however!

RobA is just amazing !

In Windows everything was as a charme, in linux there is only a problem but not in the script is from the xnview side.

Xnview has a simmetrical option (File/ Open With/ Associate Editor) In windows works well
So integration is good from both side, xnview may call gimp to edit, gimp may call xnview for apply PS plugin , xnview may call gimp to edit the active image

But doesn't work with wine in linux
because xnview accept as "Associated Graphic Program" only files with exe extension
I was wondering if create a link to the gimp bin executive and call the link "gimp.exe"may help to solve
