Bonjour,

Here is a very simple script to create patterns in 3 colors with a 3D look.

File > Create > Patterns > 3D Motif Geometrique 1 ...

Edit 20130403 :
Added option "Ribbon"
Updated file "Motif_Geometrique_1.zip"

Thank you samj. The filter worked for me but when I check the save as pattern box, I get an error.

Bonjour,

@Molly

This is not an error, it indicates the backup directory of the pattern and the pattern name :)

I used G'MIC > Artistic > Poster Edges to make the black outlines on the shapes.

This script reminded me of the old Qbert arcade game.

I guess I'm dating myself now. :hehe

Is there any way to change the pattern 'path' to look for the writable path for patterns

Esper the text effect using Samj's pattern looks terrific, was it created without additional gradients

im not sure what you mean with gradient, graechan

the texture effect is samj's filter plus a modified picture of a sunset/ocean on Mode:Dissolve on top of it

thank you !
there was no gradient involved, the shiny bevel-effect comes from the curve: double ring on the highlights and shadows

maybe later, im busy researching related stuff at the moment
i've found a few things that blew my mind

and besides, i just gave you all the instructions how to replicate the effect
you might also want to have a look at the lacquer text on my blog for examples, what can be done to bevels with curves

Thanks Esper, I used Samj's script for the pattern, added a stroke and inner bevel then curves and finished with a inner shadow
