I know, no problem. A lot of people think they are one in the same. When I installed it I had to change from no to yes but I just can't remember where that was. No one seems to know. The one I do know isn't on line. Even Google doesn't know. lol

Fedora17 is my OS.

OK, I'm working on this. I get the GURM dialog with the checkable boxes but nothing happens when I check a box. If I click OK, nothing happens, but it closes when I click Close.

I've attached my altered gurm.py, gurm.ini, and MrQ brush manager.py files in a zipped file.

O if you open your brushes dialog and click the little top right arrow to open the brush dialog menus, what happens when you click on Brush Manager?
If it is listed.And it should be if you installed Mq brush manager.(which goes in the plug-ins folder)
If i were you i would use one or the other.Either Mq brush manager or GURM.Both work fine.I like Mq's better because it tucks away into the dialogs.
I haven't installed it yet in my Fedora 17 os because i lost all my brush sets when windows blew up. :lol
I will get it running and tell you how okay?

Nothing happens when I click on Brush Manager in the brushes. I have my brushes in the same window as my layers. If I right-click on the brushes I also get Brush Manager in there.

I thought it had to have GURM to work. GURM is listed in Filters in my Gimp.

So does it say somewhere how to make it work without GURM?

That's a bummer. :gaah

Later entry: I removed the gurm files from my plug-ins folder, closed and re-opened gimp, clicked brush manager in the brushes and nothing happened. I must be missing something.

No your not it doesn't work for me either.The python file won't work in our os.
Use GURM.
Here is what your GURM ini file should look like when you first start out.
When you load a few brush sets through it the names in the installedOptions will be listed (your GURM installed brush folders).
The name of your brush folder in the userPath can be whatever you want (brushes_mybrushes or brushsets or whatever.
Just be sure you name your folder the same thing.If you use brushes_mybrushes you have to NAME the actual folder brushes_mybrushes or GURM won't find it.
[Brush Manager]
useManager = yes
gimpPath = /home/rod/.gimp-2.8/brushes
userPath = /home/rod/.gimp-2.8/brushsets
extensions = .gbr,.vbr,.gih,.abr,
installedOptions =

[Gradient Manager]
useManager = no
gimpPath = /home/rod/gimp-2.8/gradients
userPath = <Your Path>
extensions = .ggr,.svg,
installedOptions =

[Palette Manager]
useManager = no
gimpPath = /home/rod/gimp-2.8/palettes
userPath = <Your Path>
extensions = .gpl,
installedOptions =

[Pattern Manager]
useManager = no
gimpPath = /home/rod/gimp-2.8/patterns
userPath = <Your Path>
extensions = .pat,.jpg,.png,.tiff,.bmp,.gif,
installedOptions =

[Script Manager]
useManager = no
gimpPath = /home/rod/gimp-2.8/scripts
userPath = <Your Path>
extensions = .scm,
installedOptions =

[Read this]
; Please do not edit anything manually in here except for "gimpPath" and "userPath"
; which have to be set manuall and the useManager field if you want to use the
; manager.
; For more details please read the readme file.

use your own user name though :)
This works in Fedora 17.

I restored my gurm files and for some reason it worked this time. Don't know why because nothing was changed. :hoh

I have to choose GURM in Filters though. Choosing Brush Manager in the brushes dialog doesn't work.

Thanks for your help, Rod. :yr

Still doesn't make sense though O. Brush Manager should still work. It is set up exactly like mine.

Seems you are confusing two different plug-ins.
There is GURM which contains a brushmanager among other managers.
Then there's also a MrQ-Brush_Manager.py by Marerok.
The last one doesn't have a separate ini file and starts when you right click inside the brushes window.
It will not show up in Filters like GURM.
You can use the same brush files for both programs.
Warning: Gurm keeps track of the brushes selected.
If you change that with MrQ's Gurm might act strange.

I prefer MrQ over GURM,it's much much faster.
I use Gurm for other things and added Dynamics to my copy.
Gerard.

I agree Gerard, I tried GURM and didn't care much for it. I much prefer MrQ's Gurm, it works perfectly for me. I would like to thank you again for helping me to get this set up.

I got gurm working last night, the only weird thing is that it doesn't see individual brushes, gradients, patterns etc. I have to put them in folders and then the folder shows up and I install or remove the folders. I haven't tried it with scripts yet because I have way too many and I need to sort the mess out. I need to find a list of the scripts that come with a clean gimp install so I can compare it to what's actually there. I can remove them all and reinstall gimp, but I'm too lazy for that.

I can't remember who posted this for me a while back, Ofnuts maybe, but here is the list of native/default resources for 2.6. Brushes, Gradients, Scripts, Plug-ins, the works.

I have issues with GURM as well. It works fine for a while then it just sits there and does nothing when I try to change something. I think I replaced the ini file once with an exact duplicate and it started working again. Maybe the original was corrupted in some way. I dunno but it's on the fritz again and I have tried to no avail to fix it.

This is really annoying. Last night it was working. After I booted up my machine this morning, it isn't working. :gaah :hoh

Filters/GURM ... that brings up the dialog. I click a choice and nothing happens. :(

Must have been the spooks that did it. BTW, Brush Manager does work in our version of Linux. It has to be some little thing that we are missing. I have been comparing my settings to yours and Gerard's and they all look the same.

I have the same problem with GURM. Last night it worked, this morning it didn't until I booted GIMP 2.8 several times and really yelled hard at it.

I don't know why the Mr-Q brush manager doesn't work. Rod said it doesn't work in Fedora17.

Rod, It does work in Fedora. That is what I have been using since Feb. and Brush Manager works perfectly.

If yelling at the computer worked at, all mine would be the most pristine, state of the art device known to man! :rofl :crash
