This one's for Graechen and anyone else that want to know how to convert afs and 8bf files that were created using Filter Factory to GUF files. Had to dig deep (kept an old folder for the origina windows plugin called filter factory convertor and the documentation was there). It's still applicable to the Userfilter. :)

Sam can you compile Userfilter for 32 bit for me. :)
Thanks.
I no longer have a machine with a working compile environment.

Good that you found it useful. I remember converting a few 8bf's myself since filter factory filters didn't preview right with PSPI (and not won't work at all; lol). Cool thing with User filter is that you can make the presets act as if they are filters all by them selfs (i.e., don't directly launch the User Filter itself, but the FF filter exactly). I have several FF filters that I do this for (see my screenshot). :)

In your USERFOLDER there is a folder named .gimp-2.x (x = your version) this could be 2.6 or 2.8.
Now look for the pluginrc file.
Open this file in your text editor (i use Notepad ++).

Look for or search for GMIC and look for this line
<Image>/Filters/GMIC
I changed mine to <Image>/GMIC and that places the GMIC menu entry on top of the image window like this.

You can do this with most exe plugins i believe.

Knew how to locate Script-fus at will but did not know you can do this for plugins until I saw Graechan's post. Thanks for info Rod; still learn new things about GIMP every day. :)

Lyle to change the location of your favorite userfilter filters edit the menu path at the top of it's .guf file
for example
from Category=<Image>/Filters/AFH
to Category=<Image>/FilterFactory/AFH

Thanks Graechen; even can do what you said within User Filter itself. Learning even more. :)

Lyle I found the default path for the userfilter favorites tended to bloat the Filters Menu

Bonjour,

Here is a new compilation of "separate+ 0.5.9 alpha1" for Gimp 2.8 Windows (older compilations could cause errors).
