Hey samj; any change you can compile freetype plugin for 2.8. I have PC's old version and it still renders symbol fonts as square boxes (not sure what the issue is with GIMP and symbol fonts). :)

Thanks Samj; unfortunately, the bug's elswhere since freetype 64-bit still renders symbol font as squares but still glad I have this one in 64-bit version so maybe one day the GIMP developers can fix the underlying issue with the Symbol font (Webdings too). :)

OK here's the silly question. GC has the scripts and plugins repository website.
Why can't Sam's binaries be hosted there? I don't see any of the C plugins there, BTW.
What's the deal?

To quote Tux.
Quote:
That is up for discussion, Rod.

In general, posting binaries can open up a can of worms. You can end up with many different binary versions, depending on the OS someone is using. If you're not 100% sure of where the binary came from, you could open the door for malware introduction.

There could always be exceptions, though. Perhaps in some cases, binaries could be posted.

In the case of plug-ins like G'MIC, BIMP and others, it's probably best that we create articles describing (and linking to) the plug-in, rather than maintaining a copy of the source and the various binaries.

So maybe a few can be placed there. :)
