It takes animated gif. No script is necessary. GTK that is responsible for GIMP initialization and opens up splash screen is able to read jpeg, png, gif and bmp file formats.
Create 'splashes' folder in GIMP user directory and place there as many splash images as you want, including gif animations. GTK will randomly pick one of the images every time it launches GIMP.
I've heard of the
random splash screen launcher before, but have never implemented it.
Can you be more specific about where to create this new folder?
I know there's a folder named 'Images' and this is where I've been placing all of my Gimp Splash Screens.
Should I create a folder named 'splashes' and where should I create this folder at?
Also, is this GTK you speak of already installed with Gimp 2.6.8? Or is there something I need to do to have this GTK random splash screen launcher work with Gimp 2.6.8?
Sorry for all the questions...
