Gradient Frame has no dependencies but comes with additional files that you can load

Place Gradient Frame.scm in your gimp scripts folder and refresh

Place the additional gradient files in the 'Crown Mouldings from He4rty' folder into your gimp gradients folder and refresh

Place the Lace16.pat file into your gimp patterns folder and refresh

If you wish to use the default gradients from gimp then any of the shaped gradients will do
e.g. Golden, Cold Steel, greens, Horizon 1 & 2 to name a few

; Rel 0.02 - Added an optional Vignette and changed the tint layer position to give a better color

Menu Location is Script-Fu/Edges/Gradient Frame

Image

Examples all use Gimp defaults except for the Lace pattern that I have included

I 'was' going to keep my mcgimp fairly clean, but I cannot resist all these cool new scripts and stuff. It's gonna be stuffed just like my old gimps were.

Jeeves a glass of port and a fine cigar thanks

I'm just starting to play with it myself, I created the script to showcase the fantastic gradients that He4rty posted and it's a lot faster than 'Picture Frame'

This image has a vignette added

Graechan - Thanks for doing this, although I cannot take any credit for the crown mouldings as I found the profiles online and just coverted them into gradients, another 11 will soon be done.

Also in my own playing around I found the best results I managed to achieve was to have a colour layer, then above that the gradient layer with Opacity set to "Grain Merge", this enables the frame to be lightened by reducing the percent if need and finally a pattern layer which I desaturated and displaced mapped to the gradient, X & Y set to 5, finally set this layer to overlay.

Just to add, I have also created a palette with 6 wooden colours if your interested here it is, just download unzip and place into your palettes folder

Oh, Graechan, you've gone and done it again. Great script! Thank you!

It's fun to play with.

Here's a corner of a frame I made with it.

He4rty the color layer I created is invisible and used only as a reference for the plug-in-sample-colorize then it is deleted after which I use the plug-in bumpmap with the invisible bump-layer and then it likewise is deleted

That is very pretty Mike, Did you make that with Graechan's script? The frame part gives the illusion of pipes.

I used the script, and a few other techniques that probably made no logical sense whatsoever. :D

I'd tell you if I could remember.

I know I used round edge moulding and I remember playing around with G'MICs stained glass filter.

If your using Windows there is a very useful little utility called, LastActivityView by NirSoft. It displays a log of actions and events, great when you forget how you made something and lost your Gimp history. The bonus is it doesn't have to be running at the time. For example I could run it now and it could tell me what I did during my last session in Gimp.

LastActivityView would be helpful for Win Tutorial writers as a backup to check your steps.
