After reading he4rty's post http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5189
It inspired me to write a script to automate it.

I have called it "BaseShadeToneTint-2.6.scm" or "BaseShadeToneTint-2.8.scm" depending on your version of Gimp.

Once installed in your Scripts folder, refresh the scripts.
You will now have two new entries in the context menu in the Palette dockable dialog.
- 'Copy FG to BaseShadeToneTint palette' and
- 'Copy current Palette to BaseShadeToneTint palette'

To display the context menu, simply right click on a 'palette' in the Palette dialog. see below
Image

If you choose 'Copy FG...' the script will either 'add to' or 'create' a palette called 'BaseShadeToneTint' and then add the FG color, it's Shade, Tone and Tint colors to the new palette. see below
Image

If you choose 'Copy current Palette...' the script will either 'add to' or 'create' a palette called 'BaseShadeToneTint' and then add, for each color found in the current Palette, that Color, it's Shade, Tone and Tint colors to the new palette. see below

The 2.6 version works well in 2.6 and 2.8 so that is the version I use in all 6 of my gimps

Thank you a great script, Although I have no Idea of final layout

[original color] [new color] [new color] [new color]

b10h4z4rd,

Thanks for doing this, unfortunately I don't seem to be able to get it to work.
I'm using
Gimp 2.6.12
Ubuntu 12.04

Well it's a good thing you know how to do it manually eh? ;)

Open the Palette window (dialog), right click on any palette in that window.
Choose either 'Copy current palette... or Copy FG to BaseShadeToneTint...'
:lol

About the script i think is nice and useful.
It is true that i don't need NOW ...but is already in my "Not installed- ready" script folder inside my gimp because i will need for a future work

And i believe will be very useful for the future work (restore and recolor a very damaged comics )

The image below shows me right clicking on the palette 'fabric-jeans'.

If I choose 'Copy FG....' it creates a palette as shown here...
