Thanks Molly, this definitely helps me.
Maybe could you please send me also the $HOME/.gmic_sources.cimgz file as well ?
Also, can you confirm you got this problem on Linux ? :D

PS : Should be fixed now, thanks for your help !

Also, I would be interested by the log file where you have run 'Additional filters' and got the error.
Thanks :D

Since the only 64 bit GMIC that I have is 1.5.1.0, maybe that is why I'm not experiencing any of these issues that I've seen others already post. Not sure when samj will have a chance to upgrade her build, but I guess I should be greatful that she hasn't yet and wait til David gets back from his vay kay to make the necessary changes. :)

Good news ! I think I've found the bug :)
You need to :
- Refresh your filters (with Internet checkbox enabled).
- Go to additional filters, click 'Apply'.
- Refresh your filters once again.

And it should be OK.
Let me know !

I did that and it didn't work. I still have just the two additional filters

That is strange. Actually it worked for me, since I've got the same bug on my machine.
Maybe this is a problem with the cache. I suggest you download the file :
http://gmic.sourceforge.net/gmic_def.1511
and move it as (i.e. replace) your $HOME/.gmic_def.1511
Then try 'Additional filters' once again.

I copied that link into notepad and named it gmic_def.1511 and replaced the previous one with this. It still doesn't work. Maybe I named it wrong.

Do you still have the same error message when trying to use the 'About / Additional Filters' entry ?

No, I don't get an error, in fact when you see it refreshing it shows all the other filters refreshing but they don't load. I still just have the two, PhotoComix and Gentlemenbegger's.

It seems to me the other filters have been re-distributed over the entire list.

for example, I open my Iain Fergusson file (.iain_fergusson.gmic) and at the top of the file it says:

#@gimp _Colors

####################################
# Saturation EQ

which means the filter is now under Colors.

the real question is who thought rearranging the filters like this was a good idea??

btw, many seem to be under "testing":

#@gimp _Testing
#@gimp Garagecoder

for example

I think the best bet for me is search for everything that says GMIC and delete them all. Then find the previous version before 1511 and put that back in.

EDIT: I deleted version 15 and went back to version 12. It is still the same now, just the two additional filters as before, the rest of them are under "testing" half the drop downs are missing.
I am using Fedora 16 but didn't have any problems before with this.

Ho yes, now I understand :)
As Cecilia said, most of the filters from external sources have been redistributed in the main filter tree.
For instance, you can find the 'Metallic Look' filter in folder 'Colors/'.
Some 'experimental' filters remain, but they are located in 'Testing / Username /'.

PhotoComiX and GentlemanBeggar are the only two who didn't rearrange their filters. But actually, they should do it as soon as possible :)

Metallic look used to be in colours, but now I have to go to Tom's section. Doesn't matter. Thin brush smoothing has been under testing for god knows how long. I've tested it many times and it works every time.

Thanks for these precisions Erisian.
By the way, only Tom can decide to move its 'Metallic look' filter in another folder, so probably we have to ask him to do so on the Flickr Forum (and I will).
About 'Thin brush smoothing' : do you have a suggestion of the right folder in which I can move it ?

Enhancement. Excellent for removing banding and JPG compression artifacts! Also makes a good fake painting if followed by sharpening.

By the way, Tom can have his filters where he wants them. It was just a comment, not a complaint.

Earlier, I did download samj's new 1.5.1.2 build and it still appears to work quite well. It's, of course, a beta release, but I couldn't find a 64-bit Windows build for the current 1.5.1.1. :)

Is there a 32 bit version?
