OK, so on my computer running XP, it almost works in 2.7.6 portable but crashes with the following error message.

However, I reinstalled it in 2.6.11 and I noticed that when querying new plugins, it skipped past this one very quickly.
You have to remember that 2.7 is a "test" version with all the whistles and alarm on. In 2.8 these messages won't happen, since 2.8 will accept the 2.6 calls without a peep.

In the meantime, if you use the Error console dialog, these messages will go there and won't slow down the script. The script creates one path per character, plus one for the full string.

I used 2.7.6 and ignored the error messages. I still wish it would work with 2.6.11 though. Still, at least I can use it now. Many thanks Ofnuts!

I am using it with 2.6.11 and it is working fine now that I downloaded the second edition of the plug-in 0.1

I'm using 0.1 too. I tried it in my user folder, in all users folder and in the main Gimp folder but it just won't read it. The script is fine and my computer's fine, otherwise it wouldn't work in 2.7.6. Gimp 2.6.11 is a fresh install after a fresh python install. I've tried everything I can think of.

It works well on 2.6 and 2.8, have you had a chance to look at wrapmap it's failing to recognize a selection on 2.7 and 2.8, I hope I am not out of line bringing it up here but its a handy plugin.

works fine for me in 2-7-6, if you have an error console assigned you do not get erors to screen. Its a catch 22 situation If programmers write the script to not give messages in 2.7or 2.8 the script will fail in 2.6

It worked well for me in Gimp-2.6.12 out of the box.
After utilizing the changes Ofnuts suggested here
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4038&start=30#p49768
(in my gimp-2.8 copy of the script). it worked in Gimp-2.8 also.
I never bothered to update to 01. :)

0.2 should have enough enhancements to make you change your mind :)

How do you assign an error console?

Go to the little drop down arrow above your modes in your layers dialogs and click where it says add tab, then click error console

Thanks Molly, I must have seen it before but blanked it out because it sounds too technical. ("Error Console??? What on earth is one of them?!")

Upgraded to v0.2. It can now work from a Text layer, from which it takes text, font, font size, kerning, spacing, and layout.

Hi there!

I'm using this plugin with Win 7 (64-bit) and Gimp 2.8. It works great as long as I don't use specialized characters like 'æ ø å'. These work with the vanilla Gimp text-along-path; but with this plugin I get this error:

See attachment.

This is reproducible, with any font. I'd really like to use this plug-in, it blows the standard gimp text to path out of the water.

Fixed (I think). Get version 0.3 from Sourceforge (just uploaded as I post, it may take some time before it is downloadable).

That seems to work, thank you! The tool option when you right-click on the text layer seems to be gone though, but nevermind. I can now produce labels for my homebrew. I owe you one (a brew, not a label)! :tyspin
