Every once in awhile I get the urge to check out the old filters that have been around since the stone age and play with one. Molly and I have been playing with the Corroded Painting filter.

File > Create > Logos > Corroded Painting.

These, I checked Crackled and changed the top layer mode to Difference. On the Gimp Chat text I used Brightness and Contrast and raised the levels of each just a little. I deleted the bottom layer on both and added my own drop shadow, and on Anubis I added the cyan background.

It's interesting that you posted this now. I was looking though my folder of old scripts that were updated to 2.4 and ran across one called "shiny painting". It turned out to be this effect. Looks like someone had modified it to corroded painting but didn't change the script name. Go figure. :hehe

Anyway, I put it up on GIMP Scripts in case anyone wanted it.

I was thinking that script would be nicer if the background layer were separate from the shadow layer so that the original shadow could be kept and the finished image could have a transparent bg.

@Rod, thank you.

Not to worry. Unless you know, my username could be either male or female and no way to discern the difference.

O
