Hrmmm ... i installed Python26 and it still didn't work.
Very strange.
I thought Python always wrote it's environment variable in Paths when it installed. So i checked and found it needed to be added in.

That worked. :)

I stick with length and width for the larger percentage of NOOBS, including me half the time.

Script Not Working..... path-waves-0.1.py

It works on O's computer (Linux) but not on mine (Windows-7-64-bit).

Can someone take a look at it and see if it can be fixed? I've attached the one "O" sent me that is working on her machine.

I made a path, right clicked in paths dialog, showed menu, no decorate. I have the file path.waves-0.1.py in my plug-ins folder.

I understand that Rod hasn't been able to get it to work either. Anyone else?

@Saulgoode, not on couch but eating Nacho's and cheese, watching the Blue Jays play the Phillies, pouting cuz I can't get this plug-in to work....

I got it working after installing Python 26.I had python 25 installed.
2.6.11 works with 25 for the installed python scripts that come with Gimp such as fog and console.
After i added the python 26 path to my environment variables it worked fine for dd and ofnuts scripts.

Check and see if you have python 26 installed if not thats your problem.
Make sure and add a path to it via variables on your machine however you do it.

thank you Rod.
I downloaded and installed python 2.6. I rebooted but the decorate doesn't come up. nothing has changed.
Now I can't run any of the python scripts since I removed 25 and installed 2.6, not even Render > Fog....
This is what shows in my program files. Am I going to have to upgrade those other 3 Cairo, pygobject and pygtk?

I didn't see 26 but 27.2.2 came up as the newest version so I downloaded and installed that. I rebooted but the decorate doesn't come up. nothing has changed.

Unfortunately for Windows users, they have not updated Cairo, pyobject, or pygtk for higher versions of python Molly so you are pretty much doomed to use the old versions of Python w/ GIMP. I bet (did not verify), that Partha's Beta version of GIMP 2.7.3 uses the most current versions of python though (he actually includes python with that installation so there is no reason to install python before or after). I pretty much have several versions of python on my system since Inkscape also comes with Python and is used eternally for some of it's effects. :)

so it looks like I am not the only person struggling with this mahvin huh??? I actually picked up a clue from something I read a few days ago about executing the python scrips but I dont know how to do that. Basically they have to be executed before they will work...someone shoot me please!!! holy frack Batman!! Its so frustrating!! If someone out there can tell me how to do that then I might get happy with it...

Thanks for the enlightenment there Lyle...its been bugging me for days that I might be the only one having this problem...GIMP seems to over ride any new python that I add in any case...and goes back to the one it came with.

Lyle, I took out 2.7 and installed 2.6 and also the Cairo, pyglobject and pygtk, I changed the scrn shot in the above post to what I have now. I still get the error when I try to install those three. It says Python 2.6 required. Not found in registry.

Molly you need to still add the path variable for python. :)
Go to your systems variable dialog and add it to the path variable (the path to Python26 install)

You have Windows 7?

Yes that's it but variable name should just read "Path" (without the quotes, and variable value is where you add on the python stuff i showed you.Do not replace it just add the C:\Python26 stuff to it. :)

I think you got it in the other post but just in case someone reads this one first i added the information here too.

TO ANYONE READING THIS! IMPORTANT!

I really should add also that if you are NOT comfortable playing with system variables you should have another more experienced user do it for you.I do not want someone to take this information and royally screw up their variable value list.It could cause windows to not be able to find certain things it needs to run your programs if you do it wrong.

I am so confused now, I don't know if I am coming or going. I did what you said, I added what you posted at the end of the line and rebooted but when I went back there, it doesn't show at the end of the line unless I click edit, then it is there, but the installs still give me the same message
I can't find an install for 2.6 for windows, it keeps sending me to 2.7....

Okay do this
go to Start/Run type cmd and click ok
you should get a command dos window to pop up type cd C:\Python26
If it goes there type python
you should have a screen that looks something like this

C:\Python26>python
Python 2.6 (r26:66721, Oct  2 2008, 11:35:03) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win
32
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>>

If you do not you need to re-install python 26 into C: directory.
