I've made a few "paisley", (PAISLEY ALERT) images on 7 layers, one per layer.
I want to save each layer as a "Gray Scale" brush. I'm pretty sure there's a way to do this, but can't remember what it is.
Can anyone steer me in the correct direction?

BTW... All I need to know is how to save each layer as a brush, anything else I can manage on my own.

This might be of use to you http://registry.gimp.org/node/28268

EDIT: you need 2.8 for this

Copy the layer, then change the mode to gray scale then paste as new brush, then name it when the dialogue comes up

I have all the layers already in "gray scale", but the paste as 'Brush' thing seems like a good idea.

Bottom line is... that I have an image (In gray scale) with 7 layers, and on each layer there's a different design.
I want to be able to save "each Layer" as a .gbr file preferably in gray scale.
What do I need to do, or is there a script that I don't have that can do this?

Just copy each layer and copy paste as a different brush and name them.

Thanks Molly, but this is exactly what I'm trying to avoid doing.

I can do this with each layer, but would like to be able to do this as, "Layers save as .grb".

I can, and have saved each layer as a .png image, but can't find a way to save "each layer as .gbr".

O, ok, you want them all done in one step. I don think that is possible but I may be wrong. There would have to a script, I think.

Yeah, I think that's true.
Anyway... there's only 7 layers that I want to make brushes from. So I guess I'll do them one by one.

Thanks Graechan.
That's what I was looking for. I already made the brushes, and I probably have this .scm too.

Well... I come to find out that I didn't have the .scm after all.

Convert to grayscale, sure why not. :bigthup

I looked and couldn't find a script that did this. I do think that Graechan has just recently created it.

Yes I know.
I was saying that I think he created the script in response to my posting of my question about saving layers as .gbr's.
I download the script and installed it already. I just have to come up with something to be able to use it, now that I have it.

it would be amzing have all the options available ! :yes

From a series of layers i would like be able to

1) export as colour brushes

AND/OR

2 ) export as greyscale brushes ( the type of brush that use the BG and FF colours)

AND/OR

3) export to 1 animated brush (gih)

I have a lot of images that i would like to convert to brushes , a so flexible script would be a time saver! :cool

I just put it together roughly to help Wallace with his problem
