Hello (again)
Been reading a tutorial about how to draw dotted lines using both :pathtool & :brush ...Basically I want to emulate rivets (worked out how to use the offset function for that :) )

I'm having a problem getting the dots to appear, just keep getting a straight solid line. I've tried lots of different ways without any success... I'm obviously missing the obvious  ....Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Ralphc

In your paint brush settings move the spacing bar until you get it the way you want. You can use it to paint along a path or just in your layers.

When you stroke a path or selection have a look at, Line Style.

Hello..
Thanks both for taking the time to reply. Molly, I still seem to be getting the solid line. I'm nearly there, I can see what look like dots but they seem to 'merge' I've experimented with different spacing, but no joy.

Here's what I'm doing:
Open new layer
Draw the line using :pathtool
Switch to :brush
Choose Dot 'Spacing' (big gaps)
Go to 'Stroke Path'
Choose 'Stroke With Paint Tool' (I don't choose 'Emulate Brushes')

And..Voila! a straight solid line..with bits that look like they might be dots and not the excellent example you've illustrated. ;)

Odinbc..Thanks too for your time. amazingly, I've actually understood how to use the method using the :pathtool alone...even getting offsets on layers to show 'shadows'

Apologies if I seem a bit slow on the 'uptake' with this....I need to get it right, otherwise I'm condemned to doing individual rivets :(
Thanks
RalpfC

Hi Graechan
Thanks so much for the reply :yes Managed it!! After much messing about ;) Basically, what I think I was doing wrong was that I left the 'Line Width' Still checked and I wasn't putting enough spacing between dots. Ill need to test out what the correct spacing is for each brush.

The other day I downloaded and added some rivet brushes. I'll mess with those too and try to get the right effects

Great stuff and thanks again :tyspin
