Summary to date of three problems:
Riot web print:
Running the installer *had* put riot.exe and riot.dll where they belonged in:
D:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\GIMP-PC_Lab-2.8.2-32bits\PhotoComix\plug-ins\_Preinstalled\utils\ *GOOD*
Removed the riot-plugin.exe stopped the bogus repeated requests to install *GOOD*
and I still have Riot .... offered in File menu.
This should be fixed in the file on the server
Weird as errors may happen, i installed Riot correctly but when checking last details i noticed that file, " riot-plugin exe" left floating on my desktop, and thinking to a oversight i moved in the plugin folder
(as excuse i may only say that call the plugin "riot.exe" but the installer "riot-plugin.exe" may be confusing )

Gegl problems ... specifically Cage Transform completion crashes Gimp.
I believe the Jernej installer had this problem caused by a missing lib\gegl-0.2 folder which he resolved by issuing a "slipstream" 2.8..2-1.
Your 2.8.1 has lib\gegl-0.2 but not the copy of 2.8.2 I have from before your Riot "fix".
Have I diagnosed correctly? does your latest include lib\gegl-0.2 folder?
Correct ...the gegl folder is no more there!
but i don't think is missed by mistake, from the 2.8.2 release note Quote:
- Remove all “Use GEGL” menu items, they only add bugs and zero
function
and for sure were radically removed, all the gegl operations seems vanished ...not sure if was a good idea to remove and if had unplanned side effect on the cage tool
But to test should be sufficient add back the folder, and that from 2.8.1 should be compatible
I am going to try but i never used much the cage tool so i am not too indicate to test it, anyway i may try
IN CASE YOU, OR SOMEONE ELSE WANT TRY, i zipped the folder and included below as attachment
also i am curious to see what bugs caused a so drastic decision,it is true that most of gegl operation just duplicate function , but a few (C2G, mirrors..) have no a equivalent and i like the preview applied to the image

Help - I changed to use local copy (which is detected) and use web browser.
I think I understand you to say that this combo should not actually display in which ever browser is system default but in HTML Help. CORRECT?
In case it makes any difference I temporarily changed my default browser to IE-8 from Chrome (using Browser TraySwitch from DonationCoder) - same results.
When I hit [F1] or Shift+[F1] no window opens.
Looking in Process Explorer I see it briefly opens both
Help.exe: D:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\GIMP-PC_Lab-2.8.2-32bits\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\help.exe -gimp 7 5 -run 0
- and
web-browser.exe (version 2,8,2 build time 2012-08-23 23:46) D:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\GIMP-PC_Lab-2.8.2-32bits\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\web-browser.exe but this terminates with a second or two (maybe all its doing is checking that this isn't a call to on-line doc'n?) but
Help.exe remains running apparently doing nothing.
On my laptop the help look as
files/158_gimp-help.jpgI can't understand why doesn't work for you , ...do you use XP ?...or what ?
I just installed the new version of gmic, did some inner cleaning but before update the file on sourceforge i would like find more info about the removed Gegl folder
Gegl that anyway is in the zip
(But please ... may be there some GEGL operation causing such critical errors to justify such radical removal...
i don't want make blind guess ,at the moment i don't know nothing more then the line i quoted, about removed gegl operations
