Well, McGimp is back. We now have McGimp 2.8 ready for your using pleasure. The bugs should be ironed out thanks to Mitch (Lead Gimp developer) who fixed the vexing issue we were having with rounded rectangle select and friends.

When MacDonalds first came to the UK we had another burger shop called Wimpy and I surmised that if they were to do something like a Big Mac, it would have to be called a Big Wimp. :hehe

Wimpy as in the old Popeye cartoon? :)
Wimpys favorite line...i think his only one to boot.
"I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today"

I prefer Big Gimp. :)

Anyway, I hope the Mac users are ready for the Big Gimp.

Ban a soft drink? Are kids drinking alcohol mixed drinks in school or something.
Perhaps they are drinking and driving Big Gulps? Talk on cell and drinking Big Gulps while driving, causes accidents.
What's this world coming to?

bah i give up. :)

I have to apologize to Partha for digressing. Cool that you are giving the Mac folks the gift you already have given us Windows guys Partha. That's what's cool about GIMP. GIMP brings Macs, PCs, and Linux users all together. That's why eventually PS will fail since they only trying to get the big kids (and make them go broke to boot; lol). United we stand and am greatful for the Mac and Linux guys too. :)

No need to apologize Lyle. It's all in good jest. I am still looking for some Mac testers. :)

I am happy to pass on what I am able to accomplish.

I am OK with PS. I think competition is healthy. DId you know that the new PS6 interface is almost identical to the gray interface I was/am providing for Windows and Mac. :)

I have CS5 but refuse to acquire CS6 which is the death sentence for me since any future upgrades past CS6 requires the previouse version (I was skipping every 3rd; went PS5.5, to PS7, to CS2, and now have CS5). Only motivation for keeping PS is RAW processing now (originally got it because it came with my laptop as part of a computer course I was taking). Anyway, again, I appreciate your effort. As for themes, well, I settled on the Green theme and a few custom skins but might actually go back to the default them maybe. lol

:)

@Partha...I would love to try out the McGimp! What all does it come loaded with? Hopefully G'Mic since I have forgotten how I installed it! Also, I have Snow Leopard, it that makes a difference.

Thanks 2-ton! I was hoping you and WW would try again. :)

It comes with all the Useful-Plugins on my Website preinstalled include G'MIC (1.5.1.3), resynthesizer, textureOps, aumask, wavelet-*, advanced tone-mapping, saturate, etc. I am updating 1.5.1.4 so don't worry about missing anything out. :)

Yes, it makes a difference which Mac you have. You need Snow-Leopard or better. There is no support for earlier Mac versions, primarily because I don't know anything about them.

You can now use the "recently used" menu item as well. When you select rounded rectangle, you will see them nicely on your image. Don't panic if the Gimp menu does not automatically comes back. Simply click the image bar.

Let me know where it fails.

Thanks!!
Partha
