I am almost finished compiling Gimp-2.7.5 which is probably going to be the last test beta for 2.7.
This is the latest GIT version, with the new GEGL-0.1.9, BABL-0.1.7, and new PANGOCAIRO.
I have heard this last test version is awesome, and also has tablet support fixed.

I will post a screenshot when the compile is finished and i launch it. :bigthup

Thanks Partha! :)
This compile seems to be taking forever for some reason.GEGL also.
I am just about half way through the common plug-ins. I believe that is the last part.

Getting there :lol

Actually i finished compiling, created an installer, and installed the Gimp-2.7.5 program on my computer.
Everything works real nice except GEGL. Every time i try to use it ...boom Gimp crashes.

Image

Python-fu works well, as well as Script-fu. I wonder if it's because of the new GEGL package?

Another thing that messed me up was that when it installed it used the UserFolder/.gimp-2.6 folder to draw from.
So when it first launched i got a bunch of errors because it was drawing plugins from gimp-2.6/plug-ins folder.
After i launched it, i closed it right away, and i just deleted everything inside the folders (sub folders of UserFilder/.gimp-2.7), and i was all set.
Except for GEGL that is. :)

So if you install this one be sure and create a .gimp-2.7 folder first to avoid those launch errors.

A portable version would solve the problem! Any chance?

I probably will not release one but Partha may. :)
This is the last beta before the 2.8 release or so i am told.So he may just pop out a Gimp-2.7.5 also.
Maybe after he compiles his i can figure out what went wrong with mine.
I updated Pix-Buf, Glib, Cairo, BABL, and GEGL so it should have compiled without a hitch. I could not find a newer version of ATK.
I did get some deprecation errors for some of the header files in ATK and GTK/Pix-Buf.
G_CONST_RETURN gchar seems to be deprecated?

Ah well maybe Partha can fix it. I won't release my version until the GEGL bug is fixed. :ninja

PC did Partha release a version of the last beta already?

Incidentally this version is available for Linux already so if someone wants to grab it and test GEGL i would be ecstatic.
That would tell me if GEGL newest version is buggy.

Thanks.

Hi Rod,
I compiled gimp-2.7.5 couple of hours ago from git sources 64 bit.
Babl-1.7 gegl-1.9.
Tried Tools > Gegl operation works fine here.
I hope that's what you want to know.
Being a Gimp noob I never used it before.
Atk-2.20 gtk+-2.24.8 cairo-1.10.2.
Don't know what else might be important for you.
Compiling for Windows is definitely not my piece of cake.
Good luck,
Gerard.

Thanks Gerard. All my libraries seem to be up to date.Maybe like PC said it may be a dll issue.
If it is the GEGL compile that failed i can just recompile and prefix it to re install into gimp-2.7.5 so no biggy there. I think i will wait and see if Partha has better luck and maybe some information to get my build env fixed.

Thanks again! :)

humm we may see if also the sourceforge build has same problems with gegl...just to be sure that the culprit is not something wrong in the source code

Not sure if it will work with an older version of GEGL. It has to have GEGL-0.1.9 to compile correctly so...

When you compile a program in Linux it will leave a *.pc file in /usr/lib/pkgconfig.
This file contains version info needed for other programs depending on it.
If you're on Linux that's where you'll find installed version info.
Gerard.

But according to the git commit log: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/log/ there's been more changes since you grabbed your snapshot, so perhaps those changes will fix your problem?

Unless you all try compiling the same snapshot, then you're not comparing like-with-like.

I don't think so.
Gegl hasn't changed since Nov 25.
And the last changes in Gimp are not about gegl.
I've compiled from git about once a week, never any problem.
Gerard.
