Hi All,

The other thread was getting too long. :)

I have uploaded a new version of Gimp for Windows at my website. As requested by some folks, BZIP2 format should work. Tablets (Wacom kind, not iPad kind) should work. To get the most functionality from your tablet, don't forget to install your tablet drivers.

Please let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks!
Partha

I got a Mac and so was hoping to get 2.7.4 running on it before 2.8 comes out. I have so far gotten it to run nicely with Mac integrated menu (no X11!), though caveats remain and I am working on them.

Gimp painter 2.7.4 should be next. :)

I was also thinking of compiling Gimp Painter. :)
I would also like to mention i tested this on my Hanwang tablet and it works very nicely.

In fact my tablet software company has tested many softwares to make sure themselves.
More info here .. http://www.telbak.com/graphic-tablet-software.php

Does this come in Portable with Python Partha?

Thanks for testing Rod. I only have an old Wacom tablet and it works quite nicely.

Yes, it should work in portable with python. Please try it and let me know if it is broken.

Just a question Partha I have 2.6 version of gimp 32bit for windows. If I put a your new version for 64bit will it still work?

I had to download the 32bit as the 64bit didn't work properly, the gimp version 64bit kept freezing every time i used it.

All versions including portable have tablet support. So they should all work, PC.

Lorri,

Do you have 64-bit Windows? In that case, download the portable version and install it on an USB stick and see if that works for you. Then you can download the regular version.

Let me know if you have issues.

Partha

Well. it shouldn't since I don't use X11 for my gimp build. It's a native Mac app. There are a lot of bugs, so caution is required. I am learning how to create an "app" so that you can double-click etc. However, it works from the terminal right now.

Well, once you start it, the terminal is not necessary. So, I am not sure it is such a hindrance. But I take your point. :)

My guess is that you don't have enough memory for the operation? Did you wait for it finish the cage or it crashed and took down your whole system? How large is the image you are working with? More details would be great.

Finally, are you able to run this on a 64-bit machine with lots of memory?

I really don't think that's the issue... I have 2gb of physical memory, and in the previous version the cage transform worked fine. I tried it on a 800x600 image with nothing on it, right after startup, and it crashes every time. It always crashes right after I connect the last vertex for the cage. It doesn't crash the whole system, just gimp.

Also, no, I don't have any other machine to try this on.

Hmm, this is interesting. I ran the 32-bit build on Windows 7 on a 12MP picture. It was extremely slow, and sometimes did not respond. But eventually it showed the cage. Is it possible that when you connect the last vertex it seems like it is crashing (might say that Gimp is not responding) and then eventually comes back? Also would you share your picture here?

Thanks,
Partha
