Do you already have used the GAL ? [http://registry.gimp.org/node/24833] With what result ?
On the http://www.aljacom.com/%20~%20gimp%20/%20script_fu.html contains 26 scripts for 2.8 - but the same as those with 2.6 after the operation causes error messages ...

Good luck -- please let me know if my instructions work for you or not. If your system is functioning soon, and if you can, please let me know what improvements I can make to the instructions to make them more transparent. I will try to investigate creating a setup program...

Thanks,
Partha

Hi All,

Just a note, if you want to use the native Windows theme. Then you have to add the following line:
gtk-theme-name = "MS-Windows"

to the file: "C:\Program Files\gimp-2.7.2\etc\gimp\2.0\gtkrc

Then all the controls will look like any other app on your desktop.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks,
Partha

Partha now on xp works, and at the first attempt! :jumpclap :hi5
i didn't try with python yet but as far the other plugin everything works.

humm loking better i am sure python will not work out of the box, because the py console doesn't show up, but i saw there is some how to about python in the previous page ,going to read it now

For sure on xp i have a old python version (because the only supported by gimp 2.6 )maybe just install one more updated will help

About make more user friendly the installer is not a big issue, unzip and set a desktop link for gimp.exe is not rocket science even for many windows user
the main obstacle is the need to edit the enviromental variable, if could be arranged to be portable
i believe that will solve

well i have a lot of other idea i may share here or by pm but the basic point to solve first seems that
of the enviromental variable, no idea how the other sw solve (i had a lot of entries in xp for Path, since i only added 1, the others were automatically added when installing new programs)

With xp if you have Python already installed it should have shown in the gimp-2.7.2 menus.
If not you may need to install gtk runtimes as PYGTK needs them to install - if you have to do that i would just use the runtimes from here
http://sourceforge.net/userapps/mediawi ... =Downloads
download and install the runtimes first and then install the themes. Then just go into the runtimes folder and find gtk_prefs and double click to run the themes package selector. :)

You get some nice looking themes packaged with it.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1328&start=70#p16062

If you want to know how to add the other themes from Gimper to this selector just PM me. ;)

Glad it worked for you. :)

I don't know why python is not working out of the "box" (zip in this case :)) since it is included in the zipfile for both 32 and 64-bit. Can you send me a screenshot of the directory structure of your gimp installation?

I will definitely look into your suggestions.

Take care and thanks,
Partha

Just a word of caution - if you enable this you are not going to be able to use the text tool as you will run in this bug - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=623563

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads up Partha.Looks like GTK Theme selector is the way to go.
I have not had any problems with it so far and i was even able to add the engines and theme folders from Themes 1.0 by Gimper into the selector so i could have my Aurora Midnight theme back. :)

I suppose Python don't run out of the box because 2.7.2, if i am not wrong require a newer version
What version of python you have ?

Not really - Python interpreter was included in the download and pygimp.interep points to the included python (which is version 2.7.1) and so it should not be needed. I will have to test this again in case.

And yes, I was referring to your PM. I downloaded GURM and checking it out.

I did notice a python folder in your zip but i didn't look inside i tought were the other libreries not the main program

But up to to now the python console entry doesn't show up in the menu
