If I don't use userfilter, does it work all right?

PSPI (except for some PS filters broken since 2.6.8 unfortunately) still works fine Mechatherium. My favorite PS plugins that still work in GIMP are Impresionist, GML Matting, Paint Engine and Eye Candy 3. Pretty much, the rest of the PS plugins that I use I run via Shellout Python plugin.

I have gotten many to work.
Some using Vista/Win 7 may even be able to get more to work by disabling UAC
(Recommended you re enable it after shutting down Gimp)

New Plugin: Noise Shampoo (denoising)
Minor Updates: Flat Median 1.3 (dry & AA & Ram), Julia World 1.1 (smooth colors)
Compatibility Updates: For Vista/Win 7 users with UAC enabled , you don't get anymore file access errors with Blots 2.1 , Gradient Smithy 1.1 , and Julia World 1.1.

These are since the updates the ONLY Mehdi plugins that will work in Gimp-2.8 with PSPI.
Whatever was updated in the src fixes the issue. So my guess is UAC or "User Account Control".

I have contacted Mehdi and asked for a UserFilter version of the filters. I am guessing because this is the src i will be denied...

You can still use both in Gimp-2.8. You just need to open the GUF directory for UserFilter filters each time you use the filter.
PSPI for Adobe 8bf filters works regardless.
Looks like Partha may have a fix for us soon though.

I applied the patch and rebuilt Gimp. 32-bit works fine as tested by Rod. I will push the rebuilds on my server soon. I will let you know once I do that.

Any feedback on the 64-bit appreciate.

Yes it works excellent.
After installing this newest version be sure and add a new folder to your UserNameFolder\.gimp-2.8 folder and name it "userfilter"
Then copy, or move all the filters in the GUF folder to the new userfilter folder you just created.
Fire up Gimp-2.8 and open any image. Now go to Filters>Generic>Filter Factory and you should have 2 new paths when you open filter directories tab in the dialog.
one to the UserFolder\.gimp-2.8\userfilter folder
and one to the gimp-2.8\share\gimp\2.0\userfilter folder
Just like Edit\Pref will do.
After that now all you need to do is place extra filters in the userfilter folders and UserFilter will find them.

For those interested i did recompile UserFilter.exe and all the other 2guf exe files with the newest libraries.
I use it right now so i know it works for windows 32 bit.

Could I get a copy of most of these? (really want GML Matting as is no longer available....)

PC, Simply install the current build on top of the portable. It should replace all the necessary DLLs.

To operate your "extras" in the test version (Partha) here is what to do:
- Include the directory \PhotoComix
- Include the file PhotoComix.ini
- Include files Start_Gimp_Friendly*.bat
