I agree Gerard. This just sounds suspicious. The guy miss-spelled many things, and look at his name, kinda sounds like a spam; but I think Rod would be the first to let us know.

I had the author send me the new version of the plugin GURM v08, I'm checking it out right now. I haven't installed it yet because it requires a bit of code tweaking to work with my setup. I'll report back later.

GURM v08 isn't working right for me on Vista, Gimp 2.8 after adding the proper paths. I think I'll wait for someone from the Cartographers Guild forum to check it out. I think they will know the original author and some of its history.

Windows 7, Gimp 2.8

I had the author send me, as well, the files. I've been using GURM for a long time, only for brushes, gradients and patterns.

I have it all up and running with it's loading causing no errors. All paths are correct and in fact I went on and activated scripts and plug-ins.

but when I actually choose a brush or gradient or any combination of the 5 and hit ok...it just sits there does nothing.

So close it, re-open and of course none of the selections are still chosen because the "ok" function did not take.

On sending back my issues he keeps focusing on the paths in the gurm.ini file, which I keep trying to tell him are all correct and insisting I need mathmap active, which I never have before. The issue is the fact that the ok button does not cause the selected components to load into gimp.

*shrugs*

If the paths were not correct they would not show in the open dialog after selecting Filter>GURM
I too installed it and have been using GURM version 7 with no flaws and this one does the same for me.The ok button does not load the resources.

I am trying some other things and will post back here after.

After trying GURM for the first time in Gimp-2.8 i have found that neither are compatible.
Version 7 doesn't work in my Gimp-2.8 portable with python version anyways.
Possibly it could work with the installed version, but i do not have it installed.
Or perhaps the pdb calls are no longer correct?
Those seem to be correct.

Ponders the need she feels now and then to unrustify her scripting skills.

Ok i think i have it working now.
At least it loaded scripts, gradients, and brushes for me.
You have to do/edit some things first...
1) take out the line after "installedOptions = " in EVERY instance
GURM auto loads these as you use them. (it re-writes itself)

2) (Thanks ZWard for this catch) ... remove the comma at the end of the line before the parenthesis.
CHANGE (in the gurm.py file)
menu="<Toolbox>/Xtns/Languages",)
TO
menu="<Toolbox>/Xtns/Languages")
3) make sure this line is correct in the gurm.py file
GURMINI = "F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\plug-ins\gurm.ini"

4) make sure all your paths to your user folders are correct in the gurm.ini file.

That seemed to fix it for me. :)

One last word of advice is to NOT have any resources in the GimpPath other than what you really need or have loaded with GURM, because it will BOG down your machine BIGTIME! :lol (firsthand experience)

Keep them all in your resource folders (the ones you made for GURM) until you need them.

Happy Gurming!

Could you copy/paste the exact "InstalledOptions" with what we need to remove highlighted? I see it in a few different ways, I wasn't sure if you meant the remainder of that specific line, or the line below it following.

useManager = yes
gimpPath = F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\palettes
userPath = F:\gimp\palettes
extensions = .gpl,
installedOptions =

[Pattern Manager]
useManager = yes
gimpPath = F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\patterns
userPath = F:\gimp\patterns
extensions = .pat,.jpg,.png,.tiff,.bmp,.gif,
installedOptions =

[Script Manager]
useManager = yes
gimpPath = F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\scripts
userPath = F:\gimp\scripts
extensions = .scm,
installedOptions =

[Plug-ins Manager]
useManager = yes
gimpPath = F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\plug-ins

installedOptions =

[mathmap Manager]
useManager = yes
gimpPath = F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1

The only thing that needs to be changed in the gurm.py file is the path to gurm.ini
You probably already knew that. :)
