so my dear buddies of GC, i challenge you to come up with the nicest gradient you can make

for all of those who need a crashcourse, i recommend this tutorial for the basics

Very nice Esper, Anyways, here are two gradients that I made in 2.6 when I first had a play with the editor.

The gradients a called Fibernachi because both the colour hue and size of stripe where all based upon the fibernache number sequence.



Here are the two gradients if you would like them

OK, you talked me into it...thanks, now I actually know how to use the gradient editor! It's probably a gradient already made somewhere, but I did make this by hand. The gradient is on the text, not the background...that one was already in my list

there were 3 segments, red to white, white to white, white to blue. Fairly simple, but it let me learn the basics. I will re-open gimp and see if I can pull up the editor for that. My gimp is a bit different, so I had to fumble around to find the editor!

found it easier this time...practice works! Also learned yet another thing...that you can bring back the editor to see what you did!

yes, you can re-edit your own gradients

here is an interesting problem, you always get a kind of focused beam-like middle, that pops out (here the white)
its very difficult to get rid of that...make it smoother....

From what I remember Esper the fibernachi sequence is the previous two digits added together to make the next number and goes :-

0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55

So the hues went :-

0 20 30 50 80 130 210 340

To get the spacing it was a case of adding the numbers

1 2 3 4 5 8 13 21 34 together which gave 78

Then the editor use the spacing 1.000 so divided 1000 by 78 which gave each space a value of 12 or .012

So hue colour 340 would require a space 34*.012 = 0.408

Hope that makes sense.

As to your focus beam light have you tried some of the different blending modes.

in PS you have two little circles beneath every handle, which you can drag out to make a fine tuning to the gradient color

To fine tune the best I have discovered is to zoom in to about 50:1 and this enables the arrows to be moved at intervals of 0.0001
