It would be cool if this could be kind of simplified, without jumping through all the filters ?
Dont know if this is possible. Maybe an idea to toy with for the programmers ?

Meant to comment on this earlier, like the results and the explanations a very clear. Will help to make some nice background textures.

i dont know if this is really handy, cause normally you forget about techniques that you dont use on a regular basis
thats why is was suggesting to make this into a combined filter in G'MIC

the biggest learning effect i got from my experiments was the Median Filter
i think i first heard about it in this article:

but the Recursive Median in G'MIC is much better than the Gimp - Despeckle
