Having read the very nice tutorial from ek22 about applying a weave effect for image, I couldn't stop myself trying to automate it as a G'MIC script.
So here it is, a new filter located in 'Patterns / Weave' that does the job (not exactly the same steps as the tutorial but looks close anyway) :

Yeah, this is pretty awesome. I approve of this message. Amazing how you get this from my incoherent illustrated rambling.

I've done some improvements on this filter, so now, the rendering can be also very close to the one natively provided with GIMP. But with G'MIC, you have the preview !

Cool; hoping the lines (striations or whatever you call it) would be added as an option.

It better handles RGBA images as well.

If you reduce the thickness of the stripes, then I suggest you raise the Density slider as well, to get more image informations available on the final rendering.

I find it to be looking very nice like this.
