Hello there,

Just a little announcement, I've added a new toy filter in the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP, located at Artistic / Fractalize.
It tries to locally deform a Mandelbrot fractal to make it look like your input image. It is a bit CPU intensive for big images (although it is parallelized) but it sometimes creates quite cool results. Here are some examples of what you can get when using it.

(This filter is a CPU and memory eater, you have been warned!).

After refreshing Gmic you should see it in Artistic/Fractualize, if not then I suggest you update your Gmic

Made a black and white background out of gradients in difference mode and applied the fractalize filter, then played with other options like gradient norm and edge detect etc until I found a happy medium. Makes a good desktop background.

I get an error. When I hit the refresh on GMIC'.

Filters update from Internet (partially) failed !
