This is not really a tut just a quick tip related to this post viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6392

More exactly the how to but no much words are needed the xcf are self explanatory:
in each xcf 1 or 2 layers are just duplicates of the image to edit,
the other layer with a very long name full of number is the only edited layer
the final effect depend of the combination of the edited layer with the duplicate used to enhance the the effect

The zip was too heavy (about 50MB ) to be included as attachment here so i used my DA account

http://photocomix2.deviantart.com/art/R ... -354654334
(Click on the download button to get the zip )

HOW TO APPLY THE SETTINGS

There are 2 possible methods to use that values , for the first there is a script that may convert that in additional gmic "Fav" , well help to automatize the conversion a few correction has to be done manually

this instead is the quicker way

the edited layers embed in their layers names the parameters of the Gmic command used

a example to clear, if layer name is [G'MIC] Graphic Novel : -gimp_graphic_novelfxl 0,2,6,5,20,0,0.699301,6.99301,0,1,0.727273,0.804196,1.32867,0,1,6,0.314685,1,1,0.447552,0.881119,0.699301

Just remove the part in red that till and including the ":", the rest , after the ":" is the equivalent command for the Gmic engine
(all that decimals are not strictly needed but are saved anyway )

NOTE that are the command given with a filter "Graphic Novel" BUT would be a bit complex "remap" them to the graphic interface of Graphic Novel ,i.e assign the right value to the right slider , ..it may be done but there is quicker alternative :

is GMIC> Various> Local code

Image

now the first and last line may be kept :
to simplify that 2 lines are to take care of selection and transparency ,in the middle fo the real command

so just replace what in the middle with the desired command, in our example just paste
-gimp_graphic_novelfxl 0,2,6,5,20,0,0.699301,6.99301,0,1,0.727273,0.804196,1.32867,0,1,6,0.314685,1,1,0.447552,0.881119,0.699301

there and hit apply or ok
If you think to reuse you may "fav" as for any other filter

PhotoComix thx for material!

I can not play with equal results!

In the new layer I apply the sets 0,2,6,5,20,0,0.699301,6.99301,0,1,0.503497,0.804196,1.11888
Has another sets, but i don't know what they are for - ,0,1,6,0.314685,1,1,0.377622,0.881119,1.74825

Comparing my rersultado with yours, note the difference, yours is softer (smooth), while my income has a sharper image.

Why the difference if I used the same settings?
Am I doing it right?

Im noob, i don't know how could I use to find these codes?, but i tried.
Image

Thx for all

My fault i forgot to explain how apply the setting
It may take a while take the screenshot upload etc, so shortly

to simplify that 2 lines , the 1st and the last are to take care of selection , transparency and of multiple input/output , are not always needed but no need to remove them in the other cases..so you may just keep both

,in the middle instead should go the real command

so just replace what in the middle with the desired command, in our example just paste

Glad you did it !

In same cases may be some slight differences because i used filters that works "on a locale scale" so the final result depend also from the image size, and the xcf i posted were scaled down (to fit in DA submission limit for file size )

Anyway in most cases that should not change much , differences may be perceptible but not always and usually only confronting side to side
