This wasp rendered with Blender Cycles in 2.66 render time under 8 min
I did it on krabz blend and couple of tweaks with 270 samples.
Blender gets incredibly potent

k1tesseraena: :hoh do you have to do that! posting spider legs and animated creepy crawlies and now realistic wasps - everything to scare people out of their seats. hmph.

i did look long enough to see it was very well made, then i looked at the dice instead. that one i really liked, nothing scary about it.

thanks molly, he4rty - all the credits to blender crew, krabz and incredible people contributing to blender software

@AnMal I can't believe you still mad at me for those tentacles :rofl Yeah the crawling worm was over the top thing, I admit, should have posted something else :lame But little friendly looking wasp is harmless. It got attracted by the dice's heat radiation all red objects tend to emit.

The details of this wasp are fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
I'm just starting to learn about Blender (I can make some 3D text  ) and I can not even imagine how it would be possible to do something like that wasp.

Hey, YAFU. Not a frequent guest here on GC lately?
The model and texture are not mine, krabz should get all the credits, that's his blend. I just made some changes to it, added extra pair of wings since the original model had only one, changed the lighting a bit, camera angle, finally, I ran a render to get this image.
My intent was to demonstrate possibilities of Blender Cycles in under 8 minutes, well, if you know what i'm talking about, a couple of years ago it would have taken a lot more time to get the same quality with Blender internal render.

oh yes, that's exactly what they want you to think! wasps are clearly out to take over the world and make us their slaves.
i don't know if i got attracted by the heat radiation or not, but i really liked the dice.

Yes it's true  . Lately I've had little time to play with my hobby: GIMP and others OpenSource graphics applications.

Have you used Cycles with CPU or GPU?
