Well it's been a month (Feb. 3) since we all ran out of static IP addresses. I know they've been working on IP6, but I've not seen that much going on w.r.t. that avenue. I wonder if that's what the weirdness that I've been experiencely lately with my connection; just dont know. I only want to be the barer of loom and gloom. bru ha ha ha ha. :)

Actually, they only allocated the last parts of the IPv4 number space. They are not given to end users yet. I expect they will have shortages sometime near summer.

Then we either adapt IPv6 or all operators will set up NAT. Both solutions are entirely doable, but no doubt they both cause disturbances and costs.

What I really fear is how much they can change data transfer due to new costs. It is conceivable that greedy operators will introduce new payments, which will then pretty much destroy the Internet as free resource. There will be also much more control on connections, because tapping IPv6 is harder. No doubt official parties in many countries do not like that. (Hello, Echelon! I trust you have been well?)

Yesterday was international roll out ipv6 day.
If you want to know about ipv6 on your computer try this link:
http://test-ipv6.com/
I discovered that my Firefox preferences file had disabled it.
Now I can go to ipv6 sites w/o problem.
Gerard.

Until this was 100% enabled it is pointless and you will experience slightly longer router connection times. PS last posting night until moved
