I thought i would just start a new thread for Photofont downloads as i will be creating more of these.

What is a PhotoFont?
A photofont is a type of image font used within the PhotoFont Start program (which is free)

Installation
To install a PhotoFont or "PHF" file, you need the Photofont Start program which is an Adobe 8bf Photo Shop filter.
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3542&hilit=photofont&start=10#p44660
It can be used very easily with Gimps 8bf initializer PSPI installed.
Next you need to browse to the filter within Gimps menus and open it.Now click install photofonts and browse to the paperclip phf file and click ok.Photofont will auto install the PHF file and it will be available immediately after.
You will find it listed as Paperclip.

PhotoFont #1
This first one is aptly named "Paperclip" This is a very high res font.
In Gimp at size 480

No PSPI can't be included in gimp, no way..it is a pity but is made impossible by licenses conflict

Awesome stuff Uncle Rod. ;)

Very much look forward to the toothpick interpretation too. I wonder if I can port ASCII art into the dialoge to create Photofont ASCII art? Might give it a try later. Again, thanks a heap. Glad that someone here can create these at will (though I'm sure tedious). :)

8bf's are Adobe Photoshop filters 2-ton. PSPI is a GIMP plugin that allows you to natively run photoshop filters but it's hit or miss. It just so happens to flawlessly run the Photofont plugin which is cool. :)

Lyle that is a cool idea.ASCII art with PhotoFonts. :)
It is a tedious process to create the PHF files. The paperclip font took 2 days to create.Mostly because i had to render 7 different paperclips. :lol
BUT it is worth it to bring joy to you and others.

Just noticed from your set that you don't have numbers for characters Rod. Maybe I'm asking for too much though. lol

I will add them. I think i will add a question mark and a exclamation point also. :)
I have learned that i need to center the images before converting them also.
They are quite crowded. :lol

Yeah; would even know how you would do a perion unless you polar distored one of your clips. lol

Question, slash, and Exclamation point would be cool characters to add though. Haven't tried to do ASCIIGen yet, but I might get motivated to try later. Probably have to do one line at a time I bet. :)

PSPI was ported to Linux GIMP several years ago now Cecilia. Believe you have to have Wine installed though. I'm really not a Linux guy, but maybe others here can help you out on this. :)

Also Xnview (take care you need the Windows version ) works perfectly in ubuntu and allow to use better most of PS filters (no much relevant for this one )

On the contrary on linux PSPI is even more buggy then on win

That's one funky looking question mark Rod. lol

Below's my idea for a period; a yin/yang approach. Don't ask me how to create a question mark though. lol

Rod the letters appear to be to close to each other, is there any way to space them more.

example the word HOT

Yes for now you will have to create each letter separately and spread them apart that way.Until i redo the letters and center them within the 2000x2000 area i created them in.Stupid me used the entire square instead of centering.Well you live and you learn. :) I may try to do it in Bitfonter instead.Maybe there is an easier way.I'll get back to you on it.

Thanks Graechan.
