I love that bottom one with the gold. What is that font? As if I need more fonts but I want that one, lol

thats too bad ladies, because the annoying gold gave me so much pain that i will not look at it again today

and i like the darker version better :clap

its really simple:
i used 200px for the font size

there is an Inner Glow: Shrink: 1, Gaussian Blur: 10, Colour: #f9e698
an Outer Glow: Grow: 21, Feather: 25, Colour: white, Mode: Grain Merge 25%
a second Outer Glow: Grow: 10, Feather: 10, Colour: #dcce9f, Mode: Grain Merge 30%
Dropshadow: Gaussian Blur 16, Contour: Half Round, Colour: black

but the real kicker is the Bevel
here is the screenshot for the layerfx

i like the gold best too, but the darker one looks like it would be great for book covers - not too cheaply blingy.

for the gold effect, download the gradient i attached

in the orignal PS tutorial, this gradient was a bit darker but as we havent got the right layermode i had to find another way of making it really shine
so i set the Mode to Addition and tweaked the gradient colours with the curves tool
this has already been updated in the gradient i attached

i think i stroked the gradient on Mode: Triangular Wave, in the original tutorial, they used a mode called diamond style, but i couldnt recreate that
http://webtiago.com/2012/06/perfect-gol ... photoshop/

apply a layermask so that you get a stroke - i used 3px thickness

I've seen this PS tutorial way back and I walked away. Kudos for trying it in GIMP, Esper

molly, i think you did absolutely great !

about the ragged edges....

partly thats because of the contour, and i dont think there is much you can do
try playing with the 'Soften' option in the layerfx script

also dont make the font size too small
a lot of these texteffect look awful when the fontsize is small !

I fixed the border script and added a stroke script and an extra layer style, all other scripts were changed to use ENUM's e.t.c.
