i'm on to my third letter: b is for bollywood. for those of you who didn't know, bollywood is the indian equivalent of hollywood, only much, much bigger and more glamourous. traditionally, bollywood movies had lots of fantastically choreographed dancing scenes and music in them - that's disappearing now and i hate to see it go, because the decorativeness of those dance numbers and the often really lavish clothes worn in them and all the glitter and bling usually present especially in festive scenes has been one of my greatest sources of inspiration fro many years now.
i had problems with this letter because there was so much that needed to be in it - if you think there's a little too much going on in this picture you should have seen the first versions .

i like the letter B best:
very nice glittery border, lots of text effects and i love the purple !

the dancer is a stroked path ?

esper: thank you! i'm very happy with the look of the text. the dancer is a stroked path but that's not the full story. i first stroked the path with a thick line, then i made it into a selection and filled it on the same layer. then i stroked it again with a thinner line on a new layer and made a layer mask from the alpha. then i copied the layer mask to the first layer and inverted it so it deleted the thinner line. i always use paths for my figures, i suck big time at free hand drawing in gimp! i hope it will get a bit better if i get a tablet.

griatch: thank you! we're of course using the AnMalphabet, which, as everyone knows, starts with "h" (i started with the first letter i got the idea for, then i guess some decades of literacy took over and made me do the rest in order).

Glad I finally found the b...it's lovely and not at all to busy. It's Bollywood, after all!

I was thinking about this picture last evening and just how b for beautiful it is...I also think that your a-z for pictures is an excellent way to stay focused on doing projects...by thinking of anything that pertains to the letter you are on and pick a subject...I like that....very nice.
