Found this cool Python Script; in fact, it motivated me enough to install Python in GIMP (and it was an adventure that I do not want to repeat; for starters, I first installed the latest Python and 64-bit; was I on the wrong track; lol). Anyway, I created the pearl like loop (see the link to the script; posted that image there) but then went wack with it. Below's where I decided to stop. lol

:)

One of these days I'm going to remember to give the plug-in permission to execute before I go looking for it in the menu. :gaah

Now, Lyle, the dialog box doesn't give me many clues. When I run it on some text I get a black layer, period. How do I go about making "something" with the script?

How do you define a border? http://gimp-wrapmap.sourceforge.net/

LOOK!!! You can make a rainbow with a gradient that follows the contour. :wh

It would be cool if you could map the filter to a path. Then a single curved line path would work for that rainbow. I had to stretch out the edges of the image and draw a triangle with the paths tool "outside the box" to get just the rainbow part in the selection over the image.

This is just way too much fun.

Excellent. This Script is going to be quite useful I believe. Glad that I did break down to install Python (opening up Ubuntu VM takes too long; lol). :)

I put in a comment at the Registry requesting making it mappable to a path. (Is mappable a word?) If not, I guess I have to make up my own.

I used the ellipse tool for the selection on this one.

:tyspin

It says it's been updated but the link for the update doesn't go to the download.

New version 0.2

Just uploaded version 0.2 to SourceForge. Just performance improvements, 10-20% faster, and uses only half the memory. Enjoy.

To O, all I have to say is Yessss. Excellent use. Really realistic bows. Not sure if the creator will ever port his cool python plugin to use paths, but not really necessary with cut and erase. lol

:)

Thank you. This time I set the rainbow layers to grain merge and it made them look even more realistic by concentrating the brightness over the heaviest water area. :gimp

Downloaded wrap-map-0.2.py and it's much faster!

http://registry.gimp.org/node/24754

Patterns come out interestingly too. I made the selections and inverted them. Rectangles come out with square corners rather than rounded ones that way. Would make some interesting frames.

I used a small area of the butterfly for the pattern for the frame.

Thanks Molly.

It only takes one layer to make the frame. The plug-in does all the work.
