I started to explore 3D fractals and i this took my attention Stygian Crossing from Len1
http://len1.deviantart.com/art/Stygian- ... -280115704

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE "ORIGINAL" FROM LEN1 here just for a confront

Image

those are no pixel manipulation, Len1 was so nice to share his parameter so i try to explore that word firrst using his parameters, then to try just to see more...almost without moving:
before move i wished to see what around to decide where to go, so remove the fog and i try to switch on more lights i could
and i was somehow lucky at the first attempt

I was very happy to see that white light spot..even puzzled because i didn't used any white light, but was a good start because somehow i managed to see more visible the part for me more interesting (on the upper half in the left side)

so here i widen even more the point of view

Getting somewhere ! attempting to fine tune...

and ...DAMN !! here i missed :gaah i want include all that structure that sort of gate closing a cave or tunnel on the left
but alas a big part was left out :hoh

HIT ! now the Escheresque architecture on the right is less eye catching and the Stygian Gates or whatis on the left more centered

Render 3D took long but once done the render change of lights effect are applied in real time...really cool
here i overdid again

trying a close up

Back again hoping for a gold effect

Image

trying quick contrast enhancement (automatic level...again a bit excessive

Image

how zoom and Fov(field of view ) interact ?...let try

trying to move a bit...

Colors are important for fractal but sometimes are even better in bw..
(edited with Gimp :Gegl operation " C2G")

ok back to more moderate colors

Ok was a long trip i hope you liked

PS here i linked a reasonable size but most of the render were 3600x2200,( a few 1600x1200) and is possible download at original size
Changing license to CC now so if you want use feel free just remember to credit (also Len1, again that were his parameters

believe or not there i saw also Nefertiti (or maybe other some elemental feminine power raising from the water of the Stynx )
I swear i did not any postwork to create Nefertiti (or maybe just a maid taking advantage of her mistress pool ) but when i saw her i used my magic mirror to make her presence more evident

(a crop edited with gmic ..resized from 2700x2000 png to a smaller jpg for spare GC bandwidth...)

yes and animated background because it seems easy do animation (well actually i have still to understand the command of the 3D navigator ) on you tube you may found some stunning animation

Well often bit too similar each other and with abuse of classic music for soundtrack but with amazing animated landscapes

strange that till now are not mixed works : all this travel without never change the POV risk to get boring while there are so beautiful space where to fly with a retro flying cars or a 3d dragon , were the POV may switch to show also the cars the traveller and what else...but will require a team work with some 3d entusiast

love to see live action against this backdrop.
strange how the fractals look so mechanical
