Requirements:

Details Enhancement plugin: http://registry.gimp.org/node/24211
G'MIC: Both Paint and Isophotes preset
Plastic Wrap Script-fu: http://guicon.110mb.com/?Scripts:Plasti-Wrap

The formula is Dup, then on Top Layer, run G'MIC Paint followed by G'MIC Isophots. Then run Plastic Wrap Script-fu before removing alpha Channel with black background (not the default white). Delete the Isophote layer (not needed anymore). Then dup and the Top layer should already be set to screen. Set the Center layer to Overlay and reduce Opacity to taste. Flatten, and dup. Run Details Enhancement plugin (contrast set to 2.5) a few times. Then Dup, set the Top layer to Lighten, and Center Layer to Darken and play with the Darken layer to taste. :)

Should have said Painting not Paint. Anyway, it's under G'MIC>Artistic>Painting Graechan. :)

Gotta leave soon, but I might try to do a tut later Graechan. Note too that the glaze seems most effective on plant objects (tried to do my default picture of my Dad and, well, not fit to share; lol).

Appreciate you comments too Molly. :)

OK; as promised the tut. Note that my original result is brighter and sharper and that step is not included at the end.

First step, run Painting

Second Step, run Isophots on the Painting result

Third Step, Run Plastic Wrap Script-fu on the Isophots layer and duplicate that layer

Continued next----->

Now you can delete the original Isophot's layer (keep the screen layer)

Remove Alpha Channel on second Isophot/Plastic Wrap Layer an set to Overlay and adjust opacity to taste:

Run Enhanced Detail plugin Twice, dup the result, set top layer to lighten and the other layer to darken with adjusted opacity to taste:

Now, you are pretty much done; as mentioned, some additional steps such as lighten and sharpen can be added. :)

This time I used Plastic wrap (dupped the screen layer many times) result as an overcoat over the original before applying the glaze process. Why I'm on a glaze binge is anyone's guess. lol

I installed I think the right plug-in for the detail enhancement..the one by davidb....putting both files in the application folder..would you mind telling me where I would find now in Gimp as I've located all the steps but that one? I have a project I am fixing to work on that this might come so in handy for! Thank you for taking the time for the tutorial.

The enhanced detail plugin needs to be placed in your plugins directory (need to know what OS you use, but in Win7, it is under Users/{your account}/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins). Then, in GIMP, it will be located under Filters>Enhance>Enhance Details. Hope that helps. :)

yes, I have windows 7. I put the bilateral-boost application file in the plug-ins folder under C:\Users\<myname>\.gimp-2.7\plug-ins...but when I open Gimp it errors on the application. But thank you I'll keep trying to troubleshoot it as this really excites me to try.
