Hi there, I've posted a new G'MIC filter that is trying to bring something new for rendering 'Circlism' effects. Look at the original thread :

and one of the result I get (warning, the filter is painfully slow) :

Image

(this required 45mn for the rendering !!)

I tried one and got just a black image for the result. :\
Maybe my settings for a image this size were incorrect?

There is no preview with this preset Rod; it does work though (did a 100px by 100px; tried scaling up but it was not worth posting then. lol). :)

There are probably some adjustments to do in order to make it working correctly on all kind of images. I've done only few tests I must admit.
I'll try to make it more robust and more fast, but I thought you will be interested by the results :)

Nice MareroQ!
How long did that take to render? :)

David, thanks for another great filter addition.
The bug took 5 minutes to render and then just rendered a black layer.
Not sure what that means. The file was a PNG extension though.

Yes, it puts your processor to the line, Rod. I had a transparent bg png image and it came out black, I added a bg to it and that came out black. After I removed the alpha channel I finally got it to work. Try flattening your image, Rod.

This is absolutely amazing! Great filter, Lyle and David!

Lots of cool results. Posted at Flickr (but won't here; need to do another one) but I adjusted a few things and the render took over 25 minutes. Going to eventually post something here but I gotta figure out why my (yes it is an older system, but still not that old) took so long. My machine may have been doing too many background operations. :)

What linearity does exactly?
And smoothness ?

Rendering now the 3rd try ... the first 2 were just to found good setting for min and max radious, now without changing that i
modify the linearity to try to understand what does.

wow the computer fan is screaming in agany

OOPPSS seems that linearity override the Max radious setting, increasing make less little circle more big circles but also the big circles gigantic

OK; flattened a skull w/ transparancy w/ dark gray background (noticed that the more black, the slower it seemed to run). Still, I need to play with some of the slider settings to see what effect each has to the final result. Also, wonder if you could get a smoother curve around the circles David. Tried PC smoothing preset which did a pretty good job except for the very small circles (they just about disapeared). :)

but doesn't like old cover of Jimi Hendrix at soon i try on this image
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... r-edit.jpg
it frozes forever,
image size doesn't matter, should be something on that old cover, (maybe too much solid colors ?) that crash the filter...doesn't exactly crash , it start as usually but very soon seems to enter in a never ending loop

To get the details, I had to reduce the small slider down to 2 (large one I set to 60). It took around 20 minutes to render (nearly fell asleep waiting. lol). :)

Very nice PC...Here is mine. I refreshed it 6 times re-booted Gimp 3 times and rebooted computer. I tried all the filters above and below that one and it just doesn't work. Yes I flattened it.

It works Molly; it may appear to lock up, but if you wait long enough (and I mean long) you will see a result. Like I told PC; the preview has been disabled (i.e., you won't get a preview with this preset). :)
